Getting Started with Silverlight

To get started with silverlight a development environment is needed.  This is how I did it:

1. Create a new Virtual Machine.  I know Orcas Beta 1 can run side by side with Visual Studio 2005 - but no commercial developer would ever jepardise their machine for beta software when there are such easy alternatives.
2. Download and install Microsoft Visual Studio codename "Orcas" Beta 1
3. Download and install Microsoft Silverlight 1.1 Alpha
4. Download and install Microsoft Silverlight Tools Alpha for Visual Studio codename "Orcas" beta 1
5. Download and install Expression Blend 2 May Preview
6. Download and install Expression Media Encoder May Preview
7. Download and install Expression Design
8. Download and install Microsoft Silverlight 1.1 Alpha Software Development Kit (SDK)
9. Download and install Microsoft ASP.NET Futures (May 2007)

Welcome to my Microsoft Silverlight blog

This blog is just going to be about Microsoft Silverlight.  My plan is to write some commercial quality Silverlight applications to show what is possible using this technology.

I will keep things simple to start with to show you the basics.  After the basics have been explored I plan to move into advanced Silverlight examples, and that is, in the main, where I want this blog to stay.
